She was conferred with honorary doctorates by Andhra and Sri Venkateswara Universities. She is also the recipient of the Padmashree, Kalaimamani and Raghupathi Venkiah awards. She was the chairperson of the jury at the International Childrens Film Festival held at Hyderabad in November 1999.
